For as long as I can remember, I have been enchanted by flowers and herbs. From childhood days spent making perfume and potions in the garden, to a big career shift to study floristry and create bespoke wedding flowers, the botanical world has had me under its spell.
Since becoming a mother and becoming more environmentally aware, I started creating cold-process soap for my family. From the start, it has been important for me to use wholly natural ingredients, such as plant oils and butters to nourish the skin, essential oils for their therapeutic properties and root and leaf powders to infuse the beautiful colours of nature.
The traditional craft of cold-process soap making has remained unchanged for centuries and this really appeals to me as we look to simplify our lives, avoid unecessary chemicals and reduce household waste.
I hoped to start selling my soaps and aromatherapy blends one day, but it wasn't until Covid 19 hit that I decided to get to it. Overnight, my floristry business ground to a halt, as my clients were forced to postpone their weddings and consequently, my income disappeared over night.
So Rye Botanicals came to life pretty quickly. I have been overwhelmed by the response and so grateful that customers share my love for handmade natural skincare.
